A few dozen Long Islanders bundled up and headed to Smith Point County Park on Monday to witness a glorious sunset over the beach.

Camera in hand, GreaterMoriches.com joined the group to catch the magical moment when the brilliant ball of orange dipped behind the shining, then murky sea.

To no surprise, local deer were out and about to maintain a watchful eye on the park visitors. With clouds in the forecast this afternoon on the South Shore, the next opportunity to watch a nice beach sunset could come tomorrow. After some expected morning snow showers, the sky will open up in the afternoon, current weather forecasts say.
