A few hours before the clock struck midnight to start June 1, GreaterMoriches breached 100,000 page views since its launch on Jan. 20.
The site, which has covered everything from the sewer district approval to local restaurants and parades, is run by Carl and Angela Corry, a husband-and-wife team and longtime Shirley residents.
“This was an area of Long Island in real need of quality local journalism and storytelling. These numbers the first few months speak to that,” said Mike White, founder and publisher of Greater Long Island Media.
“We’re thrilled with the response from the community in our first few months of operation,” said Carl, a journalism instructor at Suffolk County Community College. “This is proof that we’re on the right path, and we are looking to building on what we’ve started.”
GreaterMoriches was the company’s first expansion through a licensing agreement. In May, it also launched GreaterSayville. There is also GreaterPatchogue, GreaterBabylon, GreaterBayShore and GreaterPortJeff.
“I couldn’t be more happy with the work of Carl and Angela,” White said. “They’re not only talented, they take service to their community very seriously, and it shows. And the public has responded.”
