Citi Island Seafood Takeout was born after owner, Gwen Rivera, happened upon the perfect place during a drive through Shirley. Delighted that it was available, she had a heart-to-heart with her husband John who was fully on board with her vision.

Gwen’s life-long dream of opening her own restaurant came true in March 2018.

Citi Island Seafood TakeoutWhile Citi Island Seafood Takeout is just a year old, it already has great word of mouth, has a five-star rating on Yelp and is quickly becoming one of the more popular takeout spots in town.

“Our customers are dedicated, friendly and repeat offenders. They love Citi Island Island Seafood.  They come from as far off as the Bronx and Queens to enjoy our delicious food. Thank you to my loyal customers for your support. We here at Citi Island Seafood in Shirley appreciate patronage and keeping us at five stars,” said Rivera.

Citi Island Seafood Take Out offers a variety of food options including fish and chips, fried shrimp, fried catfish and fried calamari.

“The shrimp were awesome! Fried perfectly and big too! Perfect little explosions of goodness in your mouth. Fresh shrimp has a distinctive texture and flavor over frozen shrimp and this was so fresh. Served with a zesty cocktail sauce and a pretty spicy ketchup, definitely worth the price,” says Cristie G. of Shirley via Yelp.

In addition to a more traditional crab in garlic and butter, people who want to try something a little different can experience crab in a curry sauce or honey butter sauce.

“All of our dishes are of five-star quality. We welcome our patrons to come in and enjoy our delicious seafood selection,” said Rivera.

Another thing that gets rave reviews is the Gwen’s Tropical Punch.   Rivera who was born in St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands said that she loves using traditional Caribbean flavors.

“Gwen’s Tropical Punch is one of the most refreshing drinks at Citi Island Seafood. With its Caribbean twist busting with tropical fruit flavors you just can’t help yourself but have more than one. Then along came her sister drink, the Tropic Colada with its smooth creamy thirst quenching tropical flavors, another must have. Stop by and sample a taste,” said Rivera.
